Het is makkelijk om te registreren, volg deze volgende stappen:


OC.NL Registratie

Stap 1: Registeer je gratis bij Opencaching.nl.

  1. Bezoek (hier) de OC NL registratie pagina.
  2. Vul een Gebruikersnaam in die nog niet bestaat op OC NL. When selecting a username, keep in mind that you will be signing this name in the logs of caches you find. It will also be your pseudonym in the caching community. If the name you chose already exists, the system will ask you to try again. If you receive the error message Invalid Username, check that it meets the following rules:
    • It may start with a letter, number ot the following symbols: . _ – = ) ( \ / * + ~ #
    • Het moet tussen 2 en 30 karakters bevatten.
    • It can contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, blank space, or any of the following symbols: . _ – = ) ( \ / * + ~ #
  3. Select the country you are in. In the future this information will be used to automatically translate the site text for you.
  4. Enter your email address (an account activation email will be sent to this address when you complete the registration form).
  5. Enter a password in the password field. Enter it again in the confirm password field.
    • Passwords must be between 3 and 30 characters long.
    • It can contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, blank space, or any of the following symbols: . _ – = ) ( \ / * + ~ #
  6. Lees aandachtig de Gebruikersovereenkomst door en vink het vakje aan.
  7. Klik op de Registreer knop.
  8. Check your email for an account activation email and click the link provided to activate your account. Look in your spam folder as sometimes it ends up there. If you don't receive it within 30 minutes, please notify octeam (at) opencaching.nl


Zoek een cache

Stap 2: Selecteer geocaches om te zoeken.

  1. Klik op Zoek een cache in het zijmenu op OC NL.
  2. Selecteer de cache eigenschappen voor de zoek mogelijkheden. Voor de meeste gebruikers zal de standaard instelling voldoende zijn.
  3. Scroll down voor de zoekmethode naar keuze en kies voor weergave als lijst of op een kaart.
    • op cache naam: Zoek caches via de cache naam.
    • op afstand: Zoek caches met op radius opgegeven coördinaat.
    • op plaats: Zoek caches met radius via opgegeven plaats.
    • op tekst: Zoek een cache op tekst in, cache naam, omschrijving, logs, en/of afbeeldingen.
    • op cache eigenaar: Zoek caches met behulp van opgegeven naam van een OC.NL cache eigenaar.
    • op vinder: Zoek gevonden caches van een OC.NL lid.
  4. Klik op Zoeken voor de gekozen methode en bekijk de resultaten.

Stap 3: Voorbereidingen

  1. Voer de coördinaten in de GPS GPS ontvanger of via (GSAK, OCMetc.)
  2. Neem noodzakelijk zaken mee (regenkleding, water, kaart en/of kompas, eerste hulp kit, enz.).
  3. Laat iemand weten waar je heen gaat of bent of ga samen cachen.
  4. Head out for some fun!

Stap 4: Find the cache and sign the logbook.

  1. Try to focus on the environment and not your GPS.
  2. Look for something that seems out of place or unnatural.
  3. If you're still having trouble, decrypt the hint.
  4. Phone a friend!

Share your fun!

Step 5: Go online and share your experiences at OC NA.

  1. Visit the online page for the cache you found.
  2. Click the New Log Entry tab at the top of the page.
  3. Select the type of log.
  4. Change the date and time of your entry if you wish.
  5. Rate the cache. Find out more about cache rating.
  6. Share your experiences in the Comments section.

Helpful hints

  • Find a friend to go geocaching with you!
  • Always take a pen or pencil with you.
  • If you want to trade trinkets, take some with you. The accepted rule is if you take something, you must leave something.
  • Mark your vehicle as a waypoint so you can easily get back to it!
  • Leave the geocache just as you found it.
  • Make sure the public (aka muggles) doesn't see you retrieve or hide the cache.
  • Be safe... watch for critters, snakes, bugs, sharp objects, dangerous areas, etc.
  • Be sure to carry extra batteries, water to drink, etc.
